Equity Lifestyle Properties violating mobile homeowners rights across Florida , 55 + parks are no more

Equity lifestyle properties have lowered the age qualification in almost every mobile home park they own. Many were 55+ retirement communities before ELS bought the mobile home park and afterwards but no more.

How is this not a violation of our basic civil rights. Many mobile homeowners have lived in their communities for decades and moved there because it was a 55 + park but now they are all ages.

How can a company just change the classification of your community without anyone living in the community having a say??

Equity lifestyle properties don’t want senior citizens on fixed incomes anymore which is why they are weeding them out by frequent rent increases

I myself was told 14 times through emails with the secretary at an ELS park that Down Yonder Village was a 55+ park and the advertising on the website says the same when in fact its a lie. Our park now says age qualified and the age is young so I purchased a home in a 55+ mobile home park owned by Equity lifestyle properties and its a family park and I guess Im just fucked to be clear.

I dont have any issues with children or young families just starting out but I chose to live amongst retirees and thats what Equity lifestyle properties told me my community was.

We have sent our grievances to the department of justice and hopefully it will be enough for them to take a look to see if this a violation of our rights or possibly a breach of contract but we need clearer legislation to protect people in situations like this
