This seems to be a widespread accusation throughout all of ELS owned mobile home parks in Florida. Ive had firsthand experience with several of their managers when I went on the road a couple years ago and let me tell you I don’t know how some of them got their position.
There is no doubt that holding up the sale of your home as a retaliatory measure against you for whatever reason is a real concern. Its hard enough getting people to buy a mobile home in an Equity Lifestyle Properties mobile home park as it is because of the outlandish lot rents, and Im pretty sure this blog and our Facebook group We the people getting screwed by Equity Lifestyle Properties isn’t helping matters either, but here’s the thing , how can we prove it.
Way too many people have been coming forward with these accusations and other accusations toward ELS mobile home park managers which would include taking kickbacks, only letting certain contractors buy the cheap homes so they can flip them quickly and without being vetted and the number one complaint is holding up the sale of your home as retaliation against you to force you to continue to pay the outrageous lot rents.
Ive had our Facebook group for over 3 years now and the only reason ELS hasn’t tried shutting it down is because everything we post is true and their are thousands of members who are also witnesses to the complaints and accusations we post.
I will call every manager out that I can if we know for sure he or she is guilty of any of these accusations.
I have no problem doing background checks on managers who are rude and disrespectful because I had to be vetted to live here, so should every manager, but I cant come forward if I find something because by law you need written consent to do a background check on anyone other than yourself but that doesn’t mean you can’t do one anyway, and anything thats public record is free game.
So with that being said all I can say legally is that there are dozens of people who believe the manager at Carriage Cove mobile home park in Daytona is on the take and gets kick backs from a guy who seems to be the only one that is allowed to buy a flipper in the park , this particular manager is also accused of holding up mobile home sales as retaliation against some select individuals as well, but without proof there is nothing we can do. I know the manager of the Shangri La mobile home park in Largo is another one who is accused of intimidation and retaliatory moves against residents and we do have some proof against this one.
Bottom line is we need proof to call them out in a court of law and we can get a manager evicted under the right circumstances with proof, so if you really think these things are going on then start documenting things you see , take photos and videos and anything else you need to prove your fishy feeling about your park manager.
