Mobile homeowners will band together for a statewide picket against landlords Equity Lifestyle Properties and MHvillage

February has been a busy month. With a demonstration coming in Tallahassee and a picket in front of several mobile home parks in Pinellas County , there is not much more we can fit in. We are pedal to the metal in March when we expect to have at least 42 mobile home parks owned by Equity Lifestyle Properties join us in a statewide picket outside the gates of our community and hopefully more. Equity Lifestyle Properties continue to ignore the massive amount of complaints posted on social media and on our Facebook group page We The People Getting Screwed By Equity Lifestyle Properties. I started this campaign when I was ignored a couple years by this company and now Im on a mission and I know we will make a difference in the long run. We are seeing our blogs all over the internet and Facebook and every day more people are asking to join the group. Its only been 90 days since I started the blog and if ELS doesn’t think its going to make a difference , well all I have to say about that is “check back with me in another 90 days”. We are in this for the long haul. We have scheduled meetings with our County Commissioners and trying to get one with our district congressman. We are going to get new legislation put in place and better protection against predator investment companies like Equity Lifestyle Properties. This company spends millions lobbying against rent control and basically human rights. They fill their pockets with money taken from the elderly and the poor and yet they get away with being a publicly traded REIT under NASDAQ ELS common stock while at the same time pillaging retirees and seniors. That’s because very few of their shareholders know the real story and so we’re going to tell it. Since the beginning of the Covid pandemic in 2020, not a single penny has been put back into our mobile home park community and our fellow neighbors down in the Ft Meyers area are still waiting on ELS after hurricane Ian, yet our rent increases have doubled and our amenities have dwindled down to zero. Our manager is rude and really has no business in this type of position and our water bill has increased 7000.00 a month for the park as a whole. We dont have individual water meters and the water company wont give us the specifics of the property owners bill but has stated that the utilities have not increased nearly that much. ELS has refused to share a copy of the water utility bill with its residents stating “ we dont have to provide you with a copy of the bill , but you need to pay the amount we are billing you for water or its grounds for eviction”

Mobile homeowners have had enough and we are banding together one day at a time until everyone knows about Equity Lifestyle Properties. They have no idea what we are up to nor do they care but they will.

  1. I live in Lake Fairways in North Fort Myers and would like more information on joining this effort against ELS and have several neighbors that would as well. Please advise.
