Equity Lifestyle Properties otherwise known as ELS is a publicly traded Real Estate Investment Trust company ( REIT ) out of Chicago Illinois, and owners of over 200 mobile home parks, marinas and campgrounds

Florida is home to many of those mobile home parks and the residents don’t have anything good to say. They are bullies and they prey on the senior citizens who don’t have the means or resources to fight back .They have ruined our entire community which was beautiful before they got here and they have raised the lot rents so high that people trying to get out can’t because we cant get squat for our homes.

They came in under the radar during covid while thousands were dying and started raising rents at a rate that should have never gone unnoticed by local officials but it was.

Lot rents have doubled in just 3 years and maintenance has just about disappeared. The managers that Equity Lifestyle Properties hire are rude, and have zero people skills its a wonder how they qualified for the job. Listen dont take my word for it just look at the reviews all over the internet. Thousands of mobile homeowners are banning together to say “we have had enough of ELS” we are being ripped off by this company and others are being ripped off by other REITs like Sun Communities, Legacy Communities and others, but ELS is number one when it comes to complaints.

They try to control everything we do says another resident living under the iron fist of ELS. Our park used to be a retirement community, now its all ages and its loud all of the time. There are kids and adults driving motorcycles and scooters when the sign says no motor bikes. People constantly speeding and if you complain they start sniffing around your property trying to intimidate you.

The story is the same no matter what ELS owned mobile home park we visited. The complaints range from lack of maintenance to lack of rule enforcement and frequent rent increases, the complaint we heard the most was intimidation from management.
